Interdisciplinary Studies at Union
Students whose intellectual passions fall outside a standard academic department have many options. Listed below are the formally established interdisciplinary programs that Union offers; some are available as major fields of study, others are available as a minor.
In addition to the formal interdisciplinary programs listed, students can also choose an Interdepartmental major which consists of combining courses from two academic departments into a major. Most departments can be part of an Interdepartmental major; consult the departmental listings for specific details on creating an ID major.
If you have a specific interdisciplinary interest that is not covered by any of these options, you can design your own major, called an Organizing Theme major. Finally, Union College partners with several other institutions to offer accelerated dual-degree programs in engineering, business, law, education, Latin American Studies, and medicine.
