Five students win honors at ASME competition

Five seniors competed in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Old Guard Oral Presentation and Technical Poster Competitions held at Temple University in Philadelphia. The students were eligible for the district competition after winning internal competitions at Union. They competed against students from across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern U.S.

Sam Barstow took first place and Best Technical Presentation in the Old Guard Oral Presentation Competition. Lauren Brown took fourth place. In the Old Guard Technical Poster Competition, Robin Barabasz won second place and Murphy Potter, third place.

In addition to winning the district competition, Barstow’s top finish awards him a trip to the ASME IMECE conference, to be held in Denver, Colo., in November. He will compete in the final competition against first place winners from each of ASME’s 10 districts internationally.
