The campus community is working to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy and is looking for donations to send to New York City, Long Island and New Jersey.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 to Friday, Nov. 16, students and staff will be collecting items in Reamer Campus Center. Collection boxes are also in residence halls and Minerva houses.
Items needed are:
- Non-perishable food items, canned/boxed foods, cutlery, can openers, pet food, granola and power bars and bottle juice and water.
- New and gently used clothing, especially baby clothes, gloves, hats, scarves, bedding, sheets and towels.
- Toiletries, soaps, feminine hygiene products and toilet paper.
- Cash can be used to purchase any items immediately needed.
Faculty and staff are also needed to drive a campus van next weekend to affected areas. Those interested can contact Lorraine Cox at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students are planning future events for the winter term to benefit the hurricane victims, and more information will be released when it becomes available.
