Fall festivities on deck for Homecoming and Family Weekend

The College will welcome hundreds of alumni, parents and friends back to campus for the annual Homecoming and Family Weekend Oct. 10-13.

Among the highlights for the weekend include the dedication of the Wicker Wellness Center at noon Saturday. The construction of the center emphasizes the College’s focus this year on health and wellness.

Other weekend events include:

  • Alumni Speaker Series featuring cardiothoracic surgeon Kathy Magliato ’85 in the Nott Memorial.
  • A pumpkin carving competition at 6 p.m. Friday in Beuth House.
  • Tours of historic Union at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday, starting in front of Grant Hall.
  • Various athletic competitions, including football, men’s and women’s ice hockey, women’s volleyball, men’s soccer, field hockey and men’s lacrosse.

This year, visitors are encouraged to share their photos on Instagram using the hashtag #UAlumni. All of those who share photos on Instagram with that hashtag will be entered to win Google Chromecast, an HDMI streaming media player the allows user to view a web browser on their TV. Ten finalists will be chosen from the photos submitted. Those photos will be posted to the College’s website where users can vote for their favorite. The highest vote-getter will win the prize.
