Outreach and Education- Work with gardeners to ensure that each plot is effectively utilized & maintained through the year.- Communicate regularly with each site’s garden coordinator.- Outreach to various groups to encourage participation in a community garden.- Register gardeners for their plots each year and conduct orientation meetings for new participants. Organize and participate in work parties for each site twice a year.- Coordinate mini cleanup days for gardeners throughout the season.- Assist gardeners throughout the season with gardening education and problem solving of all kinds. Site Work- Lead the preparation of each site in the Spring, including tilling and staking plots.- Conduct garden inspections during the season; Contact gardeners as needed and follow up when necessary.- Perform regular garden maintenance functions and assist with organizational landscaping projects.- With direction from the Program Manager and Executive Director, develop new garden sites. Leadership- Coordinate with staff, city employees, volunteers and others to prepare, improve and develop sites.- Recruit, organize and supervise volunteers and interns to assist with projects on an on-going basis. Administration- Keep accurate records for all matters connected with the gardening program.- Solicit in-kind donations from businesses and acknowledge contributions when received.- Assist other staff with various projects as needed.
