Sustainability Outreach and Communications Coordinator

The Office of Sustainability is seeking an Outreach and Communications Coordinator. This Coordinator promotes sustainability on campus through the effective and creative communication of sustainability principles, campus sustainability initiatives, and institutional best practices in ways that engage and motivate the full range of the campus community (faculty, staff, students) and the community-at-large. In addition, the Coordinator will be required to collaboratively oversee the creation of behavior change campaigns targeting all members of the campus community (faculty, staff, students) that show progress toward campus-wide sustainability goals and commitments. The Coordinator will be expected to be a strong member of a collaborative team within the Office of Sustainability working to be both a resource and inspiration for the campus community as it works to make the University of Florida a model and national leader in sustainability. 
The Outreach and Communications Coordinator will be responsible for aspects of engagement program coordination, project management, public relations, communications, and outreach related to the Office of Sustainability and campus-wide sustainability goals including, but not limited to:
- develop and manage education and behavior change campaigns for students and employees
- work with students and relevant campus units to develop, implement, assess, and report on programs that will motivate and engage individuals and offices to incorporate sustainability best practices in support of campus-wide sustainability goals and commitments
- collaboratively coordinate campus-wide volunteer sustainability representative program for colleges and departments
- collaborate with relevant campus units for coordinated communications plan related to campus-wide sustainability efforts
- design, write, and edit content for office communications outlets (e.g. website, newsletter, and social media sites)
- develop printed and electronic promotional materials, reports, and infographics
- management of office student interns and projects related to outreach and events
- coordinate and manage office-led and collaborative sustainability related events for campus audiences
- coordinate communication and correspondence from internal and external inquiries about sustainability related topics on behalf of the office
- represent the office on appropriate committees, at conferences and external events

Minimum Requirements:           
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.


Preferred Qualifications: 

- Knowledge or working experience in broad range of sustainability topics and practices

- Experience and job training with volunteer management and/or public education program development and management

- Experience with Community-Based Social Marketing or other behavioral change framework

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a diverse community

- Experience with email mass-communication/marketing software/packages (e.g. MailChimp)

- Experience with website development and management (e.g. HTML, WordPress)

- Experience with graphic design to create inspiring and motivating promotional materials

- Experience with program evaluation, measurement, and analysis

- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and work as part of a team to reach organizational objectives

- Creative thinking and problem solving

- Ability to work some flexible hours (e.g. evenings and weekends)
