Goldwater Scholarship: Lucas Viani '14

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation provides a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intend to pursue careers in these fields. Lucas plans to earn a Ph.D. in Astrophysics, conduct research in the field of astrophysics and teach at the university level.

Watson Fellowship: Joshua Anderson '13

Project title: "Holistic Self-sufficiency: Exploring the Intersection of Community, Innovation, and Self." The Thomas J. Watson Fellowship offers college graduates of "unusual promise" a year of independent, purposeful exploration and travel -- in international settings new to them -- to enhance their capacity for resourcefulness, imagination, openness, and leadership and to foster their humane and effective participation in the world community. The stipend for the fellowship year is $25,000.
