DEPARTMENT: Anthropology
About the Anthropology major
At Union, you'll study cultural anthropology while gaining practical skills from expert faculty. Small classes, research opportunities, study abroad, and internships help you analyze social behavior through observation and interviews. Faculty bring field experiences from Latin America, Asia and the South Pacific, focusing on democratization, religion, language, and cross-cultural education.
The department offers two study abroad programs: Palau and Fiji and Jaipur, India. In Fiji, students live with local families and examine how education intersects with culture and society. In Jaipur, students engage with nonprofits, schools and community projects, designing research and gaining hands-on experience.
