About the Geosciences major

The Union geosciences major offers small classes, hands-on labs, and research with active faculty in fields like paleoclimate, volcanology, and geochemistry. Field studies cover the Adirondacks, Green Mountains, and Panama, with global research opportunities in Dominica, Barbados, Costa Rica, and the Andes. A New Zealand term highlights sustainable energy and environmental management. Students often co-author papers and present at conferences like GSA and AGU, with additional opportunities through the Keck Geology Consortium.
