About the Music major

Union offers a vibrant musical community for students passionate about music. With diverse courses and a wide range of performing ensembles—uncommon at small liberal arts colleges—you can deepen your knowledge and refine your skills.

Our courses include opportunities to develop performance abilities under expert faculty guidance, culminating in final projects. Students can also showcase their talents in faculty-led ensembles, both in groups and as soloists.

Union’s music facilities, housed in the Taylor Music Center, reflect its status as an all-Steinway school. The centerpiece is the Fred L. Emerson Foundation Auditorium, an intimate performance venue.

About the Global and Popular Musics minor

Opportunities to create and explore abound in the global and popular musics minor, with a multitude of courses, concerts and performances. Learn about Indian raga music or Tuvan throat singing. Perform in the Union College Zakuro-Daiko Japanese Drumming Ensemble and Global fusion band. Or study with Indonesian master performers on the island of Bali, renowned for its outstanding artists.

About the Music Technology minor

The music technology minor bridges , engineering, computer Science and digital arts through Union's Interdisciplinary Studies program. Housed in the Music Department, it complements programs like digital media, and film studies, offering a fresh way to explore liberal arts and engineering.
