The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department supports two new Engineering degrees at Union College. Designed within a liberal arts environment, our degrees prepare students to understand and solve the complex problems of tomorrow through interdisciplinary training, hands-on and immersive opportunities, and regular one-on-one interactions with our faculty.
As part of our Engineering and Computer Science Initiative (ECSI), we have launched new majors in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering. We are pleased to announce that these programs have now been officially registered with the New York State Education Department.
As per ABET rules and guidelines, accreditation for an engineering program cannot be completed until the graduation of its first class. Accreditation is retroactive; therefore assuming accreditation is granted, all students entering the Civil or Environmental Engineering degree programs would graduate from an ABET accredited program. The Civil and Environmental Engineering programs are actively preparing to seek accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET after the graduation of its first class in 2027.
