We welcome digital projects that support critique and engagement; that advance economic, environmental, and social justice; and that give voice to underrepresented groups.
Labor
We ensure that all involved labor is recognized, compensated, and credited fairly.
Openness & accessibility
We promote the use of free and open-source software, espouse Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) principles, and encourage open-access publication as much as possible.
Rigor
We promote critical thinking about digital media and tools, advocate for research that is data driven and projects that value insight over style, and promote the use of digital tools as means of facilitating critical engagement.
Privacy protection
We protect privacy rights and eschew technology that violates privacy, such as by collecting user data.
Sustainability
We support digital projects that are planned and built for long-term access.
