Financial Aid and Family Financing

At Union, we meet the full demonstrated need of admitted students who submit all financial aid materials by published deadlines.

  • We have a comprehensive aid program that includes more than $80 million in aid from Union's resources, in addition to aid from federal, state and other agencies.
  • Admission applicants are automatically considered for merit scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to our top applicants each year based on academic credentials. They range from $12,000 to $40,000 and are automatically renewed annually for up to four years. Over 25% of all Union students receive merit scholarships.
  • More than 60 percent of all Union students receive need-based financial assistance.
  • Need-based financial aid packages generally consists of a grant, loan and work opportunity.
  • The average need-based scholarship is $50,000. Need-based aid is evaluated annually.
  • Making U Possible Grants are available to many students who apply for financial aid, but who otherwise would not qualify for need-based aid or would qualify for only minimal amounts. Families who have an expected contribution – as measured by the CSS Profile and FAFSA – up to Union’s Cost of Attendance can expect grant and scholarship assistance ranging from $20,000 - $40,000.
  • Students are eligible to receive a maximum of 12 terms of Union College-funded financial assistance.
