You haven’t seen anything quite like our beloved Nott Memorial, a National Historic Landmark and striking presence at the heart of our campus. Dating to 1875, it is the perfect symbol of our community, a joining of eclectic architectural styles that create something remarkable.

    You’ll attend talks, readings and special events here, and view exhibits of nationally recognized artists in the second floor Mandeville Gallery. Or you might want to study in one of the quiet, comfortable sitting areas on the third floor, beneath the domed roof’s sparkling colored lights and surrounded by artworks in the Wikoff Student Gallery.

    Factoids: One of our nation’s most distinctive examples of High Victorian Gothic architecture, the Nott Memorial is the only 16-sided building in North America. It is named for Eliphalet Nott, a minister, inventor and educational pioneer who served as Union’s president for more than six decades, the longest tenure of any American college president.
