Amanda Tommell-Sandy, M.S., NCC, received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Syracuse University in 2005 and 2007 respectively. Amanda completed her internship for her master's degree at both the Syracuse University Substance Abuse Prevention and Health Enhancement Office and in the Syracuse University R.A.P.E. Center.
Amanda began working at Union as the Health Educator in November of 2007. She is a member of the American College Health Association and the New York State College Health Association. Amanda is also an active member and the current treasurer of the Capital District Regional College Consortium on Alcohol and Other Drugs.
During her time at Union, Amanda has presented at the local, state, and national levels on the topics of sexual assault response, eating disorders, and alcohol and other drug abuse response and prevention. Her clinical interests include substance abuse, sexual health, sexual assault, relationship issues, and health and wellness concerns. As the Assistant Director for Health Promotion and Student Wellness, Amanda additionally coordinates the outreach and education efforts of the office.
