Summer research a hot topic across disciplines at Union

On a hot, sticky morning, Zaid Fafouri ’26 and Austin Gregory ’25 took turns kicking soccer balls into a net at Garis Field. Over the course of two hours, they would repeat this routine hundreds of times. Thud. Thud. Thud. Crouched safely behind the net, Nguyen Ho ’26 collected data into her laptop from a series of sensors attached to the netting. Each shot generates 1,800 pieces of data. After the final kick, they will retreat to a lab to analyze the data

Prize Day honors students for achievement in academics, leadership and community service

Ebyan Abshir ’24 and Anton Tatus ’24 captured the top two awards at Prize Day Saturday afternoon in Memorial Chapel. More than 100 awards were presented to honor students for achievement in academics, leadership and community service.

Steinmetz Symposium a day to celebrate scholarly and artistic endeavors

Mathematics major Emily Vasquez ’24 started preparing for her presentation weeks ago. She didn’t know quite what to expect. She had never given a public presentation related to math. Also, the topic, “Finding the Relationship Between Triangles and the Pythagorean Theorem using Calculus,” could be challenging for those who would rather forget the fundamental principle of geometry taught in high school: a² + b² = c².
