Why work at Union?

THE UNION DIFFERENCE:

Our mission

"Union College provides a rigorous, holistic and immersive liberal education that emphasizes integration, innovation, inclusion and reflection for every student."

Our vision

"Developing every student to lead with wisdom, empathy and courage, in ways large and small, now and across multiple tomorrows."

A commitment to diversity and inclusion

Union is committed to equality of education and employment opportunity. We strive to create a campus environment that is inclusive, values diversity, and treats students, faculty and staff members on the basis of their individual performance and not on the basis of characteristics that are protected by federal, state and local law.

Work-life harmony

Work should not come at the expense of peace of mind and personal responsibilities. With generous time off and flexible scheduling options, Union makes it easier to balance commitments at work with life away from campus.

An ideal location

Union is located in Schenectady, N.Y., a short drive to Albany, the state's capital, and only a few hours to New York City, Boston and Montreal. Schenectady is home to an eclectic mix of restaurants, Proctors, one of the finest restored vaudeville theaters anywhere, and the gleaming Mohawk Harbor complex. Just a short distance from campus there are numerous nature preserves, parks and paths. The Adirondack, Berkshire, Catskill and Green Mountains, all within a two hours drive, provide additional outdoor recreational opportunities, including some of the best hiking and skiing on the East Coast.

Exceptional benefits

Union's benefits are truly exceptional. In addition to affordable and high-quality health care coverage and an 11 percent yearly retirement contribution, the College offers tuition assistance, fitness and wellness programs, and professional development opportunities.

A friendly and dynamic campus

Union is a close-knit community where friendships percolate over coffee in cozy campus spaces throughout our scenic 120 acres. It is also a place where you can root for 24 athletic teams (including Division I hockey), participate in lively Minerva House current events discussions, stargaze through a 20-inch optical telescope, see nationally acclaimed dance troupes, enjoy delicious organic food at the student-run Ozone Café, or have fun staying fit in a spinning or yoga class. Regardless of your interests, you will find an abundance of opportunities to nourish your mind, body and spirit in an environment conducive to forging lasting connections.
