Memorial Fieldhouse will be filled with games and activities Sunday as students from the Kenney Community Center host the annual UCARE Day.
The event, which runs from noon to 3 p.m., has carnival games, arts and crafts activities for local elementary school kids.
Union students will work booths with activities, including face painting, tying friendship bracelets and making paper masks. Several sports teams and fraternities have signed up to run sports games, such as a basketball shoot out and soccer games.
Cybil Tribie ’11, one of four student organizers, said the event is a great way for Union students to connect with the community. “We do it to work on forging better relationships with the community and give back to the community we’re a part of,” Tribie said.
Admission is free and the event includes a free lunch. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and bring their children.
Tribie credited the generosity of local businesses, the President's office and Union students for making the event possible. Stewart’s Shops and Price Chopper have donated free food for the event.
