Tri Trang ’12 is this week’s Kenney Community Center Volunteer of the Week.
Trang, along with other students in Professor Strosberg’s Health Care Management course, started a smoking cessation program to benefit Schenectady city residents. He is now part of a group of students who run individual and group counseling sessions for uninsured patients, offering moral support and nicotine replacement therapy.
Trang, who is from Worcester, Mass., is majoring in biology and economics. He is a Posse Scholar and is in the Leadership in Medicine Program, with plans to go to medical school, possibly focusing on family practice. He is also president and founder of U-Break, the College’s break dancing group. U-Break is currently planning programs to help the local youth engage in a hobby that is fun and safe.
Tri is also co-president of the Biology Club, which is volunteering this week at Science Day for local Schenectady fourth- and fifth-graders and is planning a Jeopardy event for local high school students.
