Urban planner Mia Birk will be the final speaker in the Minerva oil lecture series. Birk will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 25 in the Nott Memorial.
Birk, a bicycling advocate, will talk about "Pedaling Toward a Healthier Planet." Birk consults with communities nationwide as a principal at Alta Planning and Design, based in Portland, Ore. Birk previously worked for the city of Portland, becoming widely known for her leadership in transforming the city into one of the country's best bicycling and walking communities. She is also the author of "Joyride: Pedaling Toward a Healthier Planet."
Birk is just one of the many people bringing their perspectives to the Minerva Course "Oil: A World in Short Supply."
