Anthony Perez '11 is this week’s Volunteer of the Week at the Kenney Community Center.
Perez is the co-chair of the Union-Schenectady Alliance, an organization that works to bring together the College and the city. The group facilitates deals and incentives with the business community, and promotes community service through the neighborhood associations.
Perez has also helped organize events, such as the city’s Winter Carnival and Saratoga Hospice’s annual gala. He has volunteered at the Schenectady Weed and Seed office and with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. He was instrumental in helping the Kenney Center start the community service pre-orientation program.
Perez, from the Bronx, N.Y., is a political science and sociology interdisciplinary major. He is a member of Sigma Phi, and recently accepted a one-year fellowship with the 2011 Urban Fellows Program, a fellowship sponsored by the city of New York to introduce college graduates to government and public service.
