ToriKelly

Volunteer of the Week.

Chee is student coordinator of Campus Kitchens and has been working to get students involved with the Presidential Interfaith Campus Challenge. She also volunteered at the local Community Hospice of Schenectady during her first two years at Union. The summer leading into her sophomore year, Chee worked at a rural clinic in Cusco, Peru. She is also the co-president of the Asian Student Union.

This past summer, she shadowed Dr. David Hornick, a home care doctor based in the Capital Region, and worked on a telehealthcare project called HealthBleep; a website designed to serve as a central hub for health care information towards home health care using videos.

Next term, Chee will be going to Taiwan, China and Hong Kong for an independent term abroad to research comparative health systems between Taiwan and the United States, as well as intern with traditional Chinese medicine practitioners.

“Not only does she want Union students to serve food to the hungry, but she also wants students to learn from the community members during the meal time, something new implemented this year under her leadership,” said Angela Tatem, executive director at the Kenney Center.

A native of Little Neck, N.Y., Chee is double majoring in biology and Asian studies on a pre-med track. She aspires to become a doctor and potentially work internationally in health care and health care policy.
