On Thursday, members of the Union community got a chance to
support those making arts and crafts on the other side of the world.
At the International Craft Sale held in Reamer Campus Center, there were scarves, bowls made out of telephone wires, handmade dolls and much more. Proceeds from the sales were benefiting those who made the items.
Lauren Cohen '78 was on campus selling items to benefit Gift of Hope, an organization dedicated to helping pregnant women and children in South Africa who are HIV positive. Cohen, who is a member of Union's President's Council, is the group's founder and works to bring awareness and support to The McCord Hospital in Durban, South Africa. The hospital is also currently hosting one of Union's Minerva Fellows. Most of the items for sale came from Africa, India and Indonesia.
Also, those interested can sponsor medical care for an HIV positive child for one year for $125.
