Therese McCarty, the Stephen J. and Diane K. Ciesinski Dean of Faculty and Vice President for Academic Affairs, recently announced special events to be held during the Tuesday common hour. The time has been set aside for events of interest to those in the general campus community. All events will be held in the Olin Auditorium.
The schedule is as follows:
Jan. 10: Strategic Plan Revision: an open meeting for the campus community with representatives of the College’s senior staff to discuss plans for revision of the College’s strategic plan during the upcoming year.
Jan. 24: Workshop for faculty and staff on the needs of students with Asperger’s and autism, with national expert Jane Thierfeld Brown, sponsored by Shelly Shinebarger, Director of Student Support Services. Please note that this session will run until 2:30 p.m.
Jan. 31: Water Week highlights, coordinated by Jeff Corbin, assistant professor of biology.
Feb. 7: Emerging Trends in Higher Education Information Technology: What’s happening out there and what does it mean for Union? hosted by Ellen Borkowski, Chief Information Officer.
Feb. 21: The John Bigelow Letters at Schaffer Library: an introduction to the new website featuring an index to over 20,000 letters held at Union College from such figures as Theodore Roosevelt, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Wilkie Collins, and Andrew Carnegie along with background information and images of selected correspondence. Speakers are Gail Golderman, Ellen Fladger, David Fuller and Annette LeClair.
March 6: Union’s Adirondack initiatives, coordinated by Chief of Staff Edward Summers.
Suggestions for additional events are welcome and can be submitted to McCarty or Mark Walker, chair of the Faculty Executive Committee. More than one event can be scheduled for the same date and time.
