Union will host its first ever North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad on Thursday Feb. 2.
NACLO is an annual contest in which high school and middle school students solve puzzles in linguistics and computational linguistics, though previous knowledge of linguistics, foreign languages or computing is not required.
Winners of this competition will advance on to the International Linguistics Olympiad, which is one of 12 international high school science Olympiads.
An information and training session will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Science and Engineering building, room NWSE 222, on Friday. The competition will be held in the same room.
Registration for the first round of competition is still open. For more information, contact Kristina Striegnitz at striegnk@union.edu or visit Union’s local NACLO web page by clicking here.
