Members of the campus community are invited to participate in the “Taking PRIDE in our Community Walk 2012,” Saturday, April 21.
The two-mile walk starts at 10 a.m. in front of Memorial Chapel, winds around the perimeter of campus and finishes in front of the chapel by noon. The event is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to park in the lot at Nott Street and Seward Place.
The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness of issues of importance to the local lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Local LGBT and ally organizations will be on hand with educational materials and snacks.
The walk is co-sponsored by the Schenectady County Human Rights Commission and various departments and organizations at the College, including Multicultural Affairs, American Studies, UNITAS, Communications and Marketing, History, Academic Opportunity Program, International Programs, Computer Science, Visual Arts, Africana Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Theme House Consortium and Sigma Delta Tau.
