The Kenney Community Center’s Volunteer of the Week is Jessica Sarrantonio ’12.
Co-founder of the non-residential and community service based sorority, Alpha Delta Lambda, Sarrantonio also serves as a resident advisor in Richmond Hall. She has also served as house manager for Iris House, the LGBTQ theme house.
As a first-year, Sarrantonio began the Hindi table, and she continues to prepare mini-lectures for students interested in learning the language. She is also a member of Bhangra, an Indian dance team, and served as treasurer for the club.
During her junior year, Sarrantonio worked as an intern at student support services, where she helped her disabled peers better prepare and organize for their classes. She also served as the public relations chair during her first year with the program. She was a co-chair of Green House her sophomore year.
This past summer, Sarrantonio received a Critical Language Scholarship which allowed her to study Hindi in Jaipur. After graduation, she will begin work as a Minerva Fellow in India at Bagru Textiles, where she will help to make the textile business more sustainable.
Originally from Bellmore, N.Y., Sarrantonio is a biology and anthropology double major.
