Mezzo-soprano Bernarda Fink debuts at the Union College Concert Series at Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 8 p.m.
The legendary Argentine singer will be joined by pianist Anthony Spiri in a program featuring Schumann’s enchanting Lenau-Lieder, Op. 90, Dvořák’s Biblical Songs, Op. 99, and selections from Mahler: Frülingsmorgen, Das irdische Leben, Das himmlische Leben and his beloved Rückert Lieder.
Fink, the daughter of Slovenian parents, was born in Buenos Aires and frequently appears with such ensembles as the Vienna and Berlin philharmonics, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden and others. She is joined by pianist Anthony Spiri, who has collaborated frequently with such leading singers as Marjana Lipovšek, Peter Schreier, Edith Mathis and Angelika Kirchschlager.
On this North American tour, Fink will also appear as soloist in Mahler’s Third Symphony with the Chicago Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra, and in recital with Spiri at Lincoln Center’s Great Performers Series.
