In Fall 2013, following almost two years of concerted effort by the campus community, Union unveiled an ambitious new strategic plan.
Drawing from key strengths outlined in the College’s 2007 strategic plan, the latest version can be summed up in three words: think, connect, act. This includes the ability to think broadly and strategically in all areas; the way in which students make connections, both in and out of the classroom; and a culture that encourages and provides opportunities to take action, academically and socially, as well as locally, regionally and globally.
During the fall term, the senior staff and the Planning and Priorities Group worked on a strategic plan implementation document, which lists implementation projects and measurements of progress. This is available on the Strategic Plan Nexus website. And during two upcoming open sessions, the campus community is invited to share its feedback.
The first open session will be held on Jan. 14 from 12:55 to 1:45 p.m. in F.W. Olin Auditorium. The session will offer an opportunity to discuss the tools that will be used to measure progress toward the strategic plan’s goals and how project planning processes. Campus community members will be able to provide comment electronically via a Zarca dropbox.
The next open session, scheduled for Feb. 4 from 12:55 – 1:45 p.m., will feature small group discussions. The campus community will be able to stop by one or more of these discussions to provide input about the various sections of the plan’s implementation.
During the winter term, the implementation list will be refined further. During this term-long process, significant revisions to the lists of components defining each project are expected to be made.
Suggestions for revision to the implementation document should be made by Feb. 10 electronically via the Zarca dropbox or to any member of the Planning and Priorities Group. For a list of members, follow this link and click on “committee list.”
After this period of campus community input and revision of the implementation document, the senior staff and the Planning and Priorities Group will work to determine priorities and funding sources for implementation projects.
