Five Union students were honored with the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Gilman scholars receive up to $5,000 to apply towards their study abroad or internship program costs. The program aims to diversify the students who study and intern abroad and the countries and regions where they go. This year, 860 American undergraduate students were chosen from 332 colleges and universities.
Nia Francis ’17 will travel to Fiji. Shivangi Mehta ’16 will travel to Greece. Davina Tran ’17 will travel to Vietnam. Astrid Vargas ’17 will travel to France. Lai Wong ’17 will travel to Brazil.
