Tommaso Gazzarri, assistant professor of classics, has a new edition of the Latin text of Plautus’ Truculentus. The volume also features a critical introduction (including a discussion of the manuscript tradition), a new Italian translation and a philological commentary.
Oral interviews by Deidre Hill Butler, associate professor of sociology and director of Africana Studies, are featured in “Nashville Rising: Our Story of the 2010 Flood” digital project. During May 2010, Nashville received more than 13 inches of rainfall, forcing the Cumberland River and several other rivers over their banks. Flooding devastated areas throughout Nashville and surrounding counties, taking lives and destroying homes, businesses and roadways.
Poems by Bunkong Tuon, associate professor of English, are featured in the current issues of The Patterson Literary Review, The Mas Tequila Review, Nerve Cowboy and Chiron Review. His recent online publications include a poem dedicated to his wife that can be found in Cadence Collective and a poem about Schenectady poet Alan Catlin, in Silver Birth Press. He was also recently a featured reader at Caffé Lena in Saratoga Springs.
An article by Stacie Raucci, associate professor of classics, was published in Classical Myth on Screen. The piece is titled “Of Marketing and Men: Making the Cinematic Greek Hero, 2010-2014.”
A book review by Donna Burton, associate librarian, was published in the April issue of Government Information Quarterly. The piece examines “Digital Dilemmas: Power, Resistance and the Internet” by M.I. Franklin. The book analyzes the relationship of power, resistance, responsibility and the Internet through case studies such as the Microsoft antitrust trial, the homelessness factor and activism for the online environment as experienced at the United Nations.
Gretchel Hathaway, chief diversity officer, was recently invited to speak at the American Council in Education National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education Conference. The presentation, “CDO and Title IX: New Title IX Requirements Become a Priority – How Are We Getting It Done?” examined how the chief diversity officer position has evolved over the past 20 years. Once focused primarily on affirmative action, the position has broadened to include diversity and inclusion.
