Haicheng Lin '16 received a Purchase Award and Yuanqing Zhu ’17 was awarded an Honorable Mention at a recent reception and prize ceremony at the Photo Center of the Capital District in Troy. They and three other Union photography students – Robert Leung ’16, Caroline McGuire ’19 and Vítek Růžička, a one-year student from Czech Republic – are exhibiting gelatin silver or color digital prints that were made in Professor Martin Benjamin’s photography classes. The exhibit features work by students from 10 local schools and runs through May 31, with a closing reception May 29, 5- 8 p.m., during Troy Night Out.
Roman Yukilevich, assistant professor of biology, was a speaker at Cornell University’s annual "Evoday" on May 8. This is the second year he was invited to speak at this conference, with this year's focus on “Behavior and Evolution”. His talk was titled, "Divergent mating preferences target male courtship song not ecological traits during rapid speciation in Drosophila."
An article by Patricia Wareh, assistant professor of English, was published in Renaissance Drama, a leading journal in Renaissance theater. The piece was titled, “Literary Mirrors of Aristocratic Performance: Readers and Audiences of The Faerie Queene and The Winter’s Tale.”
