Calling hours for James Howard, engineering machine lab technician who died on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, have been set for Tuesday, Sept. 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville.
A graveside service will be Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
Jim, 55, of Amsterdam, worked over 21 years in the College’s machine lab. Friendly, resourceful and creative, he was popular with the many students and faculty who used the lab for senior projects and research. He was an integral member of the Baja car team, assisting with the design and building. He also drove the truck and trailer that carried the car to national events, making road trips as far as Kansas, Florida and Oregon.
In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and four wheeling, and was a gifted woodworker and builder.
Survivors include his son, Matthew Howard; daughters, Jamie Murphy and Jillian Howard; brothers, Joseph and John Howard; sisters, Joann Phelps and Joyel Curtis; and granddaughter Mallory Murphy.
