Norton Reamer ’58, a longtime trustee of the College and prominent investment executive, will speak on campus from 4 to 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25 in Karp 105.
He will discuss and sign copies of his recently released book, “Investment: A History.”
Reamer is a life trustee and former chair of the Board of Trustees at Union. He was the chief investment officer and CEO of Putnam Investments in the 1970s, and he founded United Asset Management in 1980 and ran it for 20 years. In 2003, he founded and led Asset Management Finance. Each firm was a leader in its investment approach and organizational structure. He was an economics major at Union, and received his master’s degree from Harvard Business School in 1960.
The book, co-authored by Jesse Downing, an investment hedge fund analyst in Boston, chronicles the democratization of investing, once a privilege only of the elite, and seeks to educate the investor and level the playing field.
