Twelve Union students and three faculty attended the recent Experimental Biology Meeting in San Diego, Calif.
Experimental Biology is the premier biomedical conference that brings together over 12,000 professional biologists, biochemists, physiologist, anatomists, and nutritionists from around the world.
Each Union student presented his or her research. The students included: Bailey Balouch ‘17, Jack Bragg ‘17, Stefan Hamaway ‘16, Taylor Harvey ‘16, Brandon Jones ‘16, Adam Lewis ‘16, Alexis MacDonald ‘16, James McGee ‘16, Danielle Proper ‘16, Benjamin Shapiro ‘16, Cara Slugaski ‘16 and Ariella Yazdani ‘16.
Kristin Fox, associate professor and chair of Chemistry and Biochemistry, presented a poster about active learning strategies in biochemistry and molecular biology courses. She also co-chaired the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology’s undergraduate poster competition. Scott Kirkton, associate professor of biology, serves as the program officer for the Comparative Physiology Section of the American Physiological Society. He organized the student poster competition in comparative physiology, co-chaired a symposia, “A Brief History of Temperature Regulation,” and provided the introduction for the August Krogh Distinguished Lectureship Award Winner. Quynh Chu-LaGraff, associate professor of biology, also attended the conference.
