For only the third time in the history of the College, the Union College Choir will tour Europe.
Led by Prof. Dianne McMullen, Professor of Music and College Organist, the Choir will sing music ranging from the Renaissance through modern times. They start off in Munich and travel to Salzburg, where they will sing at the Cathedral. Other concert venues on their tour include Melk Abbey, St. Peter’s Church in Vienna, and St. Nicholas Church in Prague.
McMullen took the choir to England in 2001, when they sang in cathedrals and churches in London, Ely, Salisbury, and Stratford-upon-Avon. Hugh Allen Wilson took the Choir on tour to Greece in 1990. Elinore Farnum has the distinction of being the organist for all three tours. Almost 60 people, including the choir of 33 singers, are traveling on this tour that takes place from March 17 through 25. The tour includes many educational opportunities as well, including visits to the Salzburg Mozart Houses and to Schönbrunn Palace.
