The Union College and Community Orchestra, conducted by Hilary Tann, the John Howard Payne Professor of Music, will be performing in Memorial Chapel at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 9.
The concert, "Northern Landscapes," brings together works by Tann, Sibelius and Dvorak. Dvorak's Seventh Symphony in D minor is sometimes considered his greatest, although the "New World" Symphony is better known. The Seventh Symphony is extraordinarily lyrical and dramatic with a lilting third movement reminiscent of Czech folk melodies.
The concert is free and open to the public.
