Lewis Davis, professor of economics, and Astghik Mavisakalyan, senior research fellow at Curtin University, published an editorial on the economic and social impact of gendered language. The editorial argues that speaking a gendered language increases discrimination against women and gender inequality. It was published on International Women's Day. Also, Davis and Jia Gao, visiting assistant professor of economics, recently completed a report studying the economic impact of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's proposal to tax prescription opioids.
