Daniel Mosquera, associate professor of Spanish, was invited to participate in a colloquium at Oxford University on Literature, Democracy, and Transitional Justice, where he presented a paper, “The Irreverence of Bones: Reclaiming Trashed Lives in the Aftermath of Violence in Adios Ayacucho (1984) and Insensatez (2004).” He also organized a lecture series for UCALL, “The Constitutional Imagination.” He presented the first lecture of the series this past week on Latin American constitutional changes in Colombia, Bolivia and Uruguay, mostly in connection to the new charters and environmental legislation.
Andrew Morris, associate professor of history, gave a workshop at the Center for the History of Agriculture, Science and the Environment of the South at Mississippi State University. His discussion centered on “Race, Rights and Disaster Relief: Hurricane Camille and the New Politics of Disaster.”
