Dr. Richard Lazzaro ’84, the chief of thoracic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and a respected specialist in minimally-invasive procedures, returned to campus to speak on “The Benefits of Robotic Surgery.” Coinciding with Lazzaro’s visit, students had a chance to “test drive” the Da Vinci Surgical System. The technology allows surgeons to perform complex procedures with small, precise movements of tiny instruments monitored through high-definition 3D imagery.
The Times Union and Gazette stopped by for the demonstration.
