This year’s Winter Dance Concert will suggest how unpredictable, repetitive or shifty dreams can be.
“Dreams make us escape reality. Nightmares trap us into raging anxiety. We are struggling with our vulnerabilities, our human truth,” says Dance Program Director Miryam Moutillet. “And as a fundamental mystery of the subconscious, dreams make us experience myriad images and feelings, ranging from the fantastic to the unlikely.”
Performances of In Dreams will be held Wednesday, March 4, through Saturday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m., with a Saturday matinée at 2 p.m., at the Yulman Theater.
The production relies on original work that showcases a range of movements, from fast to slow, flowing to sharp gestures, in both solo and ensemble work.
Among those contributing choreographed pieces are Moutillet, and dance faculty Laurie Zabele Cawley and Freddy Ramirez. In addition, dance minors China Campagnuolo ’20, Madalyn Engvold ’20, Marie Lindsey ’21 and Abby Polott ’20 will share their vision.
Costumes are designed by Brittney Belz, with stage design by Andrew Mannion and lighting by Drew Bodd.
Tickets are on sale at the Yulman Theater Box Office. The cost is $7 with a Union ID and $10 for the general public. The box office is open Monday through Friday, 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. For more information or reservations, call (518) 388-6545.
