Max Heinegg ’94 will give a reading of his poetry on Tuesday, April 26, at 7 p.m. in Karp 005.
The event is the annual April Selley Memorial Lecture sponsored by the Department of English.
Heinegg is the author of Good Harbor, winner of the inaugural Paul Nemser Prize from Lily Poetry Press, and several other awards. His work has appeared in 32 Poems, The Cortland Review, Thrush, Nimrod and The Night Heron Barks. His poetry has won the Sidney Lanier Poetry Award, the Emily Stauffer Poetry Prize, and was a finalist for the poetry prizes of Asheville Poetry Review, Crab Creek Review and the Nazim Hikmet Prize.
He has taught English in the Medford Public Schools since 1998.
Max is the son of Peter Heinegg, professor emeritus of English, who passed away June 1, 2021. Prof. Heinegg, known for his deep intellect and energetic lectures, retired in 2017 after 42 years of teaching.
The lecture series honors the memory of April Selley, a devoted English professor and writer who instilled in students her joy of literature and the craft of creative writing. She passed away in 2016.
