Hometown: Ellington, Conn.
Major: Interdepartmental major in English and Japanese with a minor in music
Activities: Phi Beta Kappa; Sigma Tau Delta; Green House; Union College Choir; Zakuro Daiko, the Japanese Drumming Ensemble; Mountebanks; Theater and Dance Department costume shop
Favorite class: My favorite classes were actually ones I took outside of my major, such as Taming Big Data, History of Fashion and Dress and Music Tech. These really allowed me to challenge myself and learn new things. I always felt very accomplished after I completed an assignment.
What I will miss most: Being a part of the arts with my friends. Being involved with various groups such as choir, taiko, Mountebanks, and the theater and dance department have allowed me to get to know so many amazing people, and I will miss working and performing with them.
Advice for incoming students: Get involved on campus but don't overbook yourself! Signing up for clubs and different activities is a great way to meet people and try new things, but it's also very easy to get overwhelmed. Just take your time, and eventually you will find your place on campus.
Life after Union: Going to Japan as part of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. I will help teach English in a Japanese school.
