Pattie Wareh, professor of English, presented a paper entitled “The Rage of Lucrece: Revenging Roman Women” at the Modern Language Association annual meeting in New Orleans on January 9. The paper, which was part of a roundtable sponsored by the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women and Gender, explored the deprivation of women’s bodily autonomy under tyrannical sexual predators, connecting Shakespeare's poetry to the story of the fall of Troy.
Jordan Smith, Edward E. Hale, Jr. Professor of English, has an essay on reading and friendship, "Across the Mountains and Waters," and a companion poem, "The World's Worst Taoist," in Live Encounters.
