Katherine Lynes, associate professor of English, will give a paper, “Stranger here and even more out of place: Who Belongs Outdoors" in Harryette Mullen’s Urban Tumbleweed, at the ASLE-UKI Conference in August, at the U of Galway, Ireland. Lynes's work stems from her research and teaching within Africana Studies and Environmental Humanities.

William D. Williams Professor Of Biological Sciences, Leo Fleishman's research on animal communication is internationally recognized by the Naturhistorisches Museum Wien in Vienna. A number of his research videos will be part of a permanent exhibition of herpetology, presenting the communication of amphibians and reptiles. Since this is a permanent exhibition, the videos will be shown for at least 10 years.

Cheikh M. Ndiaye, professor of French, recently published the book "Ahmadu Bamba and Decolonization: The Power of Faith and Self-Reliance," which explores the legacy of Shaykh Ahmadu Bamba, highlighting his nonviolent resistance against colonialism and his role in decolonizing minds and spaces through faith and self-reliance.

Holli Frey, professor of geosciences, was recently named a 2024 exceptional reviewer for Geosphere by the Geological Society of America journal science editors. She was the only recipient from a liberal arts college and was amongst those selected for special recognition for the prompt, insightful, meticulous, and tactful reviews completed.
