The Feigenbaum Center for Visual Arts will become one big celebration Thursday, May 1, 5-7 p.m., during the Visual Arts Department’s Open Studios. The event is open to the campus community.
“Now is your chance to experience our facilities and materials, ask questions of professors and students, hang with friends, and just have fun with us,” said Victoria Rotondi, coordinator of arts programs. “There’ll be music, pizza and wings, all supplies are provided, and everyone is welcome, no matter what their skill level.”
Here’s what’s going on:
1st floor
Digital Art Studio: 3D body scans. Get scanned and become immortalized with pixels.
Sculpture Studio: Clay sculpting workshop with self-hardening clay. Build, carve, play.
Welding Studio: CNC cutting and carving. Turn 2D drawings into 3D objects.
2nd floor
Printmaking Studio: A printing workshop will celebrate mushrooms.
Photography Studio: Photo students will take photos of visitors in fun studio setups.
Art History: Participants can take pictures of themselves as works of art throughout history.
3rd floor
Drawing Studio: An "After the Disco" still life setup and drawing materials will be available for quiet free-sketch time.
While in the building, visitors may learn more about visual arts courses from professors and students, and view the Steinmetz Exhibition in the Crowell and West galleries. The Visual Arts Student Art Fair is scheduled for May.
