SI Leaders are upper classmen who have earned an A in the course.

Any student enrolled in the course can attend.

How will I know if my course provides SI?
On the first day of class, your SI Leader will introduce themselves in class and explain when/where SI sessions will take place for the term.

Do I have to pay to attend SI?
SI sessions are free!

Is attendance mandatory?
Attendance is voluntary.

What will I gain by attending SI?
SI sessions are a great opportunity to connect with peers, exchange ideas, notes, etc. Students who attend SI sessions regularly can earn up to a full letter grade higher than those who do not. Attending SI sessions will allow you to develop a deeper understanding of the course while helping you develop stronger study skills.

Do I need to sign up to attend SI?
You do not need to sign up to attend.

Where do SI sessions take place?
Your SI leader will announce the time and location at the beginning of the term. They will send reminders as well.

Is an SI leader the same as a tutor or teacher assistant?
SI leaders are not teaching assistants and do not tutor. SI leaders are trained to facilitate weekly review sessions centered around collaborative learning and study strategies. SI leaders do not grade, hold tutoring sessions, or substitute for the professor.

Will my SI leader share class or SI session notes?
It is the student’s responsibility to take their own notes. SI leaders will not share their notes with students in the course. The notes an SI leader takes are different to those of a student who is enrolled in the course.

What should I bring to SI?
It is recommended that you bring the same materials you would normally bring to class.

Will my professor know if I attend SI?
Attendance is not shared with professors.

Will I receive extra credit for attending SI?
There is no extra credit associated with attending SI.
