We offer several programs for funding student research activities for students who are currently enrolled at Union College.
Student Research Grants (SRG)
Student Research Grants were established to promote educational innovation and to help enrich the College’s educational programs. SRGs encourage intellectual curiosity and provide opportunities to exercise intellectual abilities. Student Research Grant funds can be used for expenses related to thesis or project courses that are taken for credit.
SRG Application Deadlines (academic yEAR 25-26)
- Spring 2025, for projects starting July 1, 2025 or later, are due Thursday, May 15.
- Fall 2025:
- First Round, for projects beginning in Fall 2025, are due Thursday, Sept 18.
- Second Round, for projects beginning in Winter 2026, are due Thursday, Oct 30.
- Winter 2026, for projects beginning in Spring 2026, are due Thursday, Jan 22.

Summer Research Fellowships
Each year over one-hundred Union College students spend the summer on campus working one-on-one with a professor on a project of mutual interest. Students are paid hourly and work 35 hours per week over the course of a 4-, 6-, or 8-week project. Students have access to on-campus housing. Applications are due Thursday, February 5, 2026.
