Steinmetz Symposium
Every spring, more than 500 Union students showcase their scholarly and creative work at the popular Steinmetz Symposium, begun in 1991. This all-campus event is named for former electrical engineering and applied physics professor Charles Proteus Steinmetz (1865-1923), widely regarded as America’s leading electrical engineer of that era. Classes are suspended for the day as students, faculty, staff and parents attend student research presentations all over campus. Many at Union say that Steinmetz Day is their favorite day of the academic year. It is an opportunity to celebrate student achievement and to learn about new academic areas.
