Please note: over Spring Break, Schaffer Library will transition some library links from one proxy server to another one. The proxy server allows Union faculty and students to access some of our databases and journals from off campus.
This transition is expected to take place on March 20, 2023 and will result in no down time.
(Many databases and journals do not use the proxy server for off-campus sign on and will not be affected at all.)
What do I need to do?
For most of our resources, there should be nothing you will need to do. Links should seamlessly move from one server to another. We will ensure that all library resources linked from the library’s website will work properly.
However, if you have added library resources to your Nexus classes, bookmarks, or other documents, please take a moment to review them.
If any of your resources have the term:
libproxy.union.edu
in the URL, we ask that you replace them with the following:
union.idm.oclc.org
EXAMPLE: JSTOR (https://www.jstor.org):
- OLD URL: https://libproxy.union.edu/login?url=https://www.jstor.org
- NEW URL: https://union.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://www.jstor.org
If you do not get a chance to do this, it’s okay! Your links should be redirected seamlessly to our new server.
For any links that are not seamlessly redirected, you will arrive at a library page that will ask you to report the link to us.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like us to review any of your resources. Email us at librarycollections@union.edu or Joanna DiPasquale at dipasquj@union.edu for more information and questions.
